Abstract
It is generally recognized by layman and scientist alike that memory functioning decreases to some extent due to aging. Most of the available literature focuses on age changes in memory with respect to storage and retrieval deficits. However, a lack of evidence exists related to some of the more basic characteristics of memory decline due to aging.
