Abstract
Wear has been a subject of concern to man for many centuries, with man having found many ways and means to overcome the problems encountered due to wear. The use of footwear by people, the shoeing of horses and the use of iron rims on wagon wheels were some of the actions taken by man centuries ago to combat wear. Though these problems appear trivial to us now, they would have been viewed as major problems of their time, the same way we view wear problems of this era.
