Abstract
During the past 40 years, the United States has experienced several strategic material shortages prompted by crises such as World War II and the Korean War. Historically, the issue of a critical materials policy by the United States was not addressed until shortages of materials hindered the manufacturing capabilities of industry. However, the United States has recently begun to acknowledge that there is another potential critical materials problem developing.
