Abstract
Popular perceptions of homeless persons are undergoing significant revision in these early years of the 1980's. The traditional pejorative stereotypes are still circulated, as evidenced in the remark made by the morning show DJ reproduced above, but such stereotypes now have to compete against a growing awareness of the homeless as much more than urban â€ground clutter.â€
