Abstract
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM:The Division of Occupational Therapy at the University of Alabama in Birmingham (UAB) offers two occupational therapy programs, the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program and the Occupational Therapy baccalaureate program. Both program levels stress competency learning. The assistant (technical) program emphasizes the attainment of intervention skills while the baccalaureate level emphasizes the integration of intervention skills with theoretical bases. The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors related to grade distribution in four basic occupational therapy courses of students in the occupational therapy baccalaureate and assistant programs at the University of Alabama in Birmingham.
