Abstract
Tongue contact palatometers are used to non-invasively determine relative linguapalatal contact positions in speech research and therapy. The application of linear device technology to implement these systems allowed the reliable collection of large volumes of data; however, these systems proved to be costly, difficult to calibrate, subject to noise, and large in size. This thesis documents a system based on the RCA 1802 COSMAC microcomputer, which has the advantages of small size, ease of calibration, high noise immunity, and relatively low cost.
