Feeling overwhelmed in your new academic position? Are your first instincts to hit the ground running at a pace that feels unsustainable? This poster will explain the best practices as defined in the library literature and teach you some “Golden Rules of Survival” for your first 90 days and beyond. Using perspectives from different areas of librarianship, including patron-facing and internal positions, presenters will discuss methods for achieving work-life balance. Other topics, such as ways to combat imposter syndrome and the value of openness and vulnerability, will seek to normalize the first-time academic librarian experience.
