Abstract
This study addressed the impact of the Alabama Literacy Act on early childhood educators’ literacy instruction. The researcher employed an explanatory sequential mixed methods design (Quan Qual) (Creswell & Plano Clark, 2018). To address the purpose of this study, the central mixed methods question was: In what ways does the interview data reporting the influence of the Alabama Literacy Act on early childhood educators’ literacy instruction help to explain the quantitative results about the Alabama Literacy Act reported on the surveys? Mixing of the strands occurred after the quantitative data was collected. The results from the quantitative survey helped develop the semistructured interview protocol for the qualitative phase of the study. The qualitative results helped explain the findings from the quantitative survey.
