Abstract
Ensuring high-quality metadata is foundational to effective resource discovery, access, and long-term management withing library systems. However, for early-career librarians, evaluating the accuracy and completeness of bibliographic records can present a significant challenge, particularly when navigating complex cataloging standards. This presentation offers a practical framework for assessing metadata quality based on Resource Description and Access (RDA), MARC 21 encoding, and OCLC Bibliographic Formats guidelines. Attendees will be introduced to strategies that balance precision with workflow efficiency, enabling consistent quality control across diverse cataloging environments. The session will also showcase key tools and evaluative methods that support metadata enhancement, including bibliographic record ranking, automated validation systems, peer review techniques, and an AI-powered MARC records audit checklist. By demystifying essential quality assurance practices, this presentation empowers participants to confidently implement improvements within their institutions and contribute to the broader integrity of bibliographic ecosystems.
